Ways to honor lost loved ones
We have all unfortunately experienced the loss of a loved one and that loss can feel even worse when you’re planning your event and realize that they will not be there to celebrate with you. As devastating as it is to know that they will not be there, you can find ways to honor them during your event to make sure they are remembered and respected.
Before I go on, I want to remind you that this is a celebration. While it is important to honor those we’ve lost, it’s important not to overdue it. You want to honor them but not make the event about them.
o Leaving a chair for them at the ceremony by marking it with a corsage or boutonniere for them. Some have done a sash on the chair, so it acknowledges the one that is missing at your wedding or even leaving a photograph of them on the chair as well.
o Bouquet photo charms are a lovely way to pay tribute to loved ones who can’t be at your wedding.
o Memory table for those who have passed on or couldn’t be with them
Put pictures of your loved ones.
Add special decor of what they may have given to you such as a bouquet, mementos, family bible
o Memory candle that is lite for those who are no longer with us. Could be placed up near the front of the ceremony and have some small 4”x6” or 5”x7” pictures around the candle.
o Have you something old be a keepsake that the one who has passed gave you.
